Ethiopia is confronting its first-ever outbreak of the deadly Marburg virus, with the death toll now rising to five. The country's Ministry of Health confirmed the fatalities, announcing that the total number of confirmed infections has reached ten.
The Marburg virus, a highly contagious and dangerous pathogen, has a case fatality rate of up to 50 percent, according to health officials.
In response to the outbreak, Ethiopian health authorities are actively managing the situation. They have conducted laboratory tests on 53 suspected cases and have rolled out a series of coordinated emergency measures to contain the virus's spread.
The international community is closely monitoring the situation as the response continues.
