Colonel Michael Randrianirina (born 1974) is a Malagasy military officer who serves as commander of CAPSAT, Madagascar's elite army unit specializing in administrative and technical services.
A graduate of the Antsirabe Military Academy, he previously held roles as Governor of Androy (2016–2018) and infantry battalion commander in Toliara until 2022.
In October 2025, amid youth-led protests against President Andry Rajoelina, Randrianirina led CAPSAT troops to join demonstrators, urged security forces not to repress them, and seized power in a coup, dissolving most institutions except the National Assembly.
He was sworn in as interim president on October 17, 2025, heading a military-civilian transitional council with plans for elections within two years.
