— BAMBALANG, Cameroon
Self-styled separatist commander “General No Mercy,“ leader of the Marine Forces of Bambalang, was killed in a military operation on Friday evening, security sources told Gazette Africa.
The incident occurred around 5pm in Bambalang, Ngoketunjia Division, with residents reporting heavy gunfire. He had taken command of the group after the death of General No Pity in 2023.
This killing is the latest in Cameroon's Anglophone Crisis, a conflict that has raged since 2016 between government forces and separatists seeking independence for the English-speaking regions.
The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths and hundreds of thousands of displaced people.
