– Casablanca, Morocco
Comoros achieved one of the most resounding victories in CAF women's football history, defeating Sudan 30-0 on aggregate to advance to the 2028 Olympic qualifiers.
The Comoros overwhelmed Sudan 17-0 in the first leg, played at Larbi Zaouli Stadium on June 4, 2026, with nine different players scoring. Four days later, they completed the rout with a dominant 13-0 victory in the second leg at the same stadium, sealing a resounding qualification.
Nigeria's Super Falcons, who advanced directly to the second round as one of Africa's favorites, will now face Comoros in a two-legged playoff to be played between October 5 and 13, 2026. The Super Falcons remain the heavy favorites, given their experience and their record as eleven-time African champions.
The result underscores the significant gap in the development of women's football across the continent. While Comoros demonstrated relentless attacking prowess against Sudan, they face a much tougher test against the Super Falcons. Only two African teams will qualify for the women's football tournament at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
