YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon

At least eight fighters from the Ambazonia separatist movement were killed in an ambush in Mbawrong, Ndu Subdivision, in Cameroon's Northwest Region.

The operation took place along a road in the Nfap area and was described as a joint action between Cameroonian government soldiers and armed Mbororo (Fulani) militias, some of whom were reportedly recruited from neighboring Nigeria.

More than eight automatic rifles and additional ammunition were seized following the clash. Unconfirmed reports allege that a separatist commander known as “General Bansa” was among the deceased.

The incident has heightened tensions in the community, leaving residents in fear amid the ongoing Anglophone crisis, where separatists seek independence for the English-speaking regions under the name Ambazonia.
