JOS, Plateau State

Tensions flared again on Wednesday in Anguwan Rukuba, in northern Jos, following renewed violent attacks that left several dead and others seriously injured.

The violence came just hours after the state government partially eased a 48-hour curfew imposed after a deadly attack on Sunday by Islamist terrorists that killed at least 30 Christians.

Witnesses reported that the attacks began early Wednesday morning near the UNA Primary School, where youths armed with sticks and machetes assaulted residents, threw stones at houses, and forced families to flee. One wounded victim, Alkasim Umar, later died in the hospital.

The army was deployed to the area, but residents accused the government of easing restrictions without adequate security measures.  Community leaders demanded a continued military presence, warning that delays in sending reinforcements had allowed further bloodshed.
