Uganda's Minister of Information, Chris Baryomunsi, publicly criticized the military raid on the home of opposition leader Bobi Wine, calling it unjustified and wrong.
The incident occurred last month following the disputed presidential elections on January 15, during which Wine fled his residence in Kampala amid escalating political tensions. Wine has remained in hiding, alleging that soldiers assaulted his wife, Barbara Kyagulanyi, during the raid, resulting in her hospitalization for injuries and anxiety.
Speaking to the media, Minister Baryomunsi emphasized that Bobi Wine had committed no crime and was free to return home. He stressed that the government does not tolerate indiscipline within the security forces, including home raids, property damage, or assaults.
The minister promised an investigation into the raid, which was confirmed by the military, but denied that it was a beating of Wine's wife.
