Cameroon is in a state of political crisis following the disputed presidential election of October 12, 2025. Provisional results granting a new term to 92-year-old incumbent Paul Biya, in power for 43 years, have sparked widespread allegations of fraud.

The opposition, led by Issa Tchiroma Bakary, has claimed victory and called for peaceful protests.

Tensions have already escalated into violent clashes between security forces and demonstrators in major cities, resulting in arrests and death of a protester.

This electoral dispute occurs against a backdrop of multiple ongoing crises, including the Anglophone conflict and severe flooding, which disrupted the vote.

The delay in announcing final results has heightened national anxiety, with fears mounting that the nation is on the brink of further violence.
