A brutal attack by gunmen on the Okporojo community in southeastern Nigeriaʼs Ebonyi State has left many people dead and abducted, with homes set ablaze.

The assault began in the early hours of Friday. Local sources report extreme violence, including beheadings and kidnappings. Social media videos show widespread fires and heard pleas for help.

Residents fled into nearby bushes as the attackers, whose identity and motive are unknown, burned houses. The Ebonyi State government has condemned the “barbaric” attack.

No group has claimed responsibility. The exact casualty figures remain unconfirmed as the community reels from the violence.
