Burkina Faso has released eleven members of the Nigerian Air Force and their C-130 aircraft after ten days of detention following an emergency landing.
This release follows diplomatic talks in Ouagadougou between Nigerian Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar and the head of the junta, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.
The aircraft was intercepted in Bobo-Dioulasso in December, Burkinabe authorities announced. The Nigerian military stated that the landing was due to technical problems encountered during its flight to Portugal. Burkina Faso initially considered the aircraft's entry into its territory unauthorized.
The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the amicable settlement of the matter.
