Russian forces carried out a series of missile and drone attacks in several regions of Ukraine overnight, killing at least four people and injuring numerous others, including children. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the incident directly, confirming the casualties caused by the attacks on residential areas and civilian infrastructure. These attacks highlight the continued air pressure on urban centers and other parts of the country.
In the southern port city of Odesa, a missile strike on a residential building killed two people and injured five others, including three children who are receiving medical treatment. Meanwhile, in the Zaporizhzhia region, two more civilians were killed and five others were wounded. Further injuries were reported in areas such as Sumy, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, where the attacks damaged homes, public facilities, and other civilian infrastructure, including a library in Sumy.
Ukrainian defenses responded to an intense attack with more than 130 drones and eight missiles. Although many of the incoming threats were neutralized, some hit their targets and caused the reported damage. Other regions, including Kherson, Donetsk, and Dnipro, also suffered attacks that same night.
Zelensky expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and stated that all the wounded are receiving the necessary medical attention. He urged the acceleration of the implementation of defense agreements with international partners, noting that the timely delivery of aid is critical to protecting the civilian population and strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities.
This latest wave of attacks is part of a broader pattern of long-range Russian operations targeting populated areas and critical infrastructure. Local authorities are continuing rescue efforts and documenting the damage while investigations into the incidents continue.
