YAOUNDÉ, Cameroon – Former Deputy Chief of Defence of the Ambazonia Defence Force (ADF), Ngong Emmanuel, also known as Capo Daniel, has warned of an escalation of violence in Cameroon's Northwest and Southwest regions.
In a statement released Sunday, Capo Daniel said he had viewed videos showing Ambazonian separatists training in Nigeria for new missions in Cameroon. He predicted “difficult days” ahead for the Cameroonian armed forces in the Anglophone regions.
These statements come as the seven-year-long Anglophone crisis continues, with separatist groups fighting for independence.
Military analysts point out that cross-border training and supply lines could complicate counterinsurgency efforts in the Northwest and Southwest regions, where both sides have been accused of human rights abuses.
