A deadly mass shooting at a hostel in Pretoria has left at least eleven people dead and fourteen others wounded in a late-night attack, police confirmed Saturday.
Among the deceased are three minors, including a three-year-old boy.
The violence erupted in the early hours of Saturday morning at a hostel in South Africa’s capital. According to police reports, at least three unidentified gunmen entered the facility, where a group of people were gathered at an illegal shebeen, or drinking establishment, and opened fire indiscriminately.
The scene was described as chaotic, with emergency services responding to multiple calls for help. The wounded were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
Authorities have stated that the motive for the brazen attack remains unknown at this time. No arrests have been made, and the investigation, which includes a search for the three suspects, is ongoing.
