LOKOJA, Kogi

Jihadists assaulted another church in Nigeria’s Kogi State, killing one civilian and kidnapping multiple Christians.

The attack targeted the First ECWA Church in Ayetoro Kiri, located in the Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, while the congregation was gathered for Sunday service.

“They came in large numbers, firing sporadically before abducting the worshipers,” eyewitness Jude Nkom told Gazette Africa by phone.

The victims’ whereabouts remain unknown.

The assault on December 14, 2025, occurs amid heightened international concern over violence against Christians in Nigeria. U.S. President Donald Trump has previously threatened military action over what he has described as a Christian genocide.
