Officers from the Delta State Police Command arrested 202 suspects during a major intelligence operation targeting criminal hideouts, brothels, and suspected drug sales points throughout Asaba City.
The raid, conducted on Saturday, July 4, 2026 was based on reliable information from the State Intelligence Department. It was led by the Deputy Police Commissioner in charge of Operations. The suspects, 102 men and 100 women, were arrested for operating brothels, possession and sale of illicit drugs, and other related offenses.
Police also seized 25 vehicles five cars, 10 tricycles, and 10 motorcycles for various traffic violations, including violations of tricycle restrictions and motorcycle bans in certain areas. The suspects remain in custody, pending investigation and prosecution.
Superintendent Bright Edafe, a police spokesperson, confirmed the details in an official statement. He indicated that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to prevent criminals from finding refuge in the state capital.
Police Commissioner Yemi Oyeniyi reaffirmed the command's commitment to intelligence-driven policing. He urged residents to provide timely and reliable information to law enforcement to help maintain peace and order in Delta State.
